Gatehouse principals have extensive experience in water and wastewater infrastructure projects over the past 50 years. In response to the shortage of water supplies for citizens of central Texas, Gatehouse/Corridor Water LLC acquired groundwater leases in over 10,000 acres in Lee County together with permits for ten wells providing 45,000 acre feet of production and transport for the municipalities in Lee, Bastrop, Travis and Williamson Counties. This production comes from the Simsboro formation of the Carrizo-Wilcox aquifer which has 28,800,000 acre feet of total estimated recoverable storage. This is almost 15 times the supply in the Highland Lakes.
Lone Star Regional Water Authority has agreed to sponsor the financing of a $600M transmission system from the well field to the customers in northern Williamson County who have demands for this permitted water supply.
Preliminary engineering has been completed and agreements for participants in the project are currently arranged for commencement of construction which should be underway by the 3rd quarter of 2024 with completion and operational capability in early 2028.
